HMS Bounty departs

3rd September 2007

In difference to when the HMS BOUNTY arrived there was virtually nobody around to see her go. She left Albert Dock around 0930hrs and proceeded out to sea and on to Blyth for her next engagement.

Despite there being virtually nobody around to see her go the few people who were around on the Pier spoilt it for me by invading the small amount of space that I had taken up with my camera gear. So much that I had not even enough room to operate my tripod. Where are these buggers when it's raining and all there is to see is the Rix Harrier?

Despite this I did manage to get some nice shots of here as she left.

Whilst she was leaving I also managed to capture the Russian river-class AMUR-2507 as she made her way into Albert Dock.

UTE-S had already passed and I managed a long telephoto shot which I turned to B&W to remove the colour cast. Moments after I shot the UTE-S she received a call from VTS HUMBER asking her to change course from the south channel to the North as there was a jumper on the south tower of the bridge. I don't think he/she ever did jump in the end.

VERITAS-H can be seen in the background of the FELIX TOW shot. The restored sailing barge, sloop-rigged PHYLLIS departed the marina. HM customs vessel VIGILANT crept in unannounced once again.

The saddest part of the day was seeing the beamer SARA CATHRYN STEPHENSON of Penzance going to scrap at New Holland. She is one of 9 that are being broken-up there.
